The best, easiest, and most enjoyable way to travel along the coast is by coastal tram. This tram runs from Knokke to De Panne. It takes you carefree to cities like Ostend and Blankenberge. Conveniently, you will find a stop just a 2-minute walk from our holiday accommodations: Het Appartement and De Loft.

De Lijn is investing heavily in the coastal tram. For instance, they regularly order new trams that transport you even more comfortably along our coastline.

Travel worry-free at the coast

The Coastal Tram is the ideal way for us to travel along the Belgian coast. It makes sense, as the nearest stop is just a 2-minute walk from our apartment.

Rates coastal tram

On the Belgian coast, you can use the same De Lijn tickets as elsewhere in Flanders. So feel free to bring your Lijnkaart or Buzzypass to the coast.

One ride costs 3 euros. For ten rides, you pay 22 euros.

You can also use a day pass to discover the coast carefree. With a day pass, you can travel unlimitedly on the Coastal Tram for one or more days, alone or together. An adult pays 9 euros per day. A day pass for a child under 12 costs 4,5 euros.

For trips to the coast, purchase a combination ticket. This bundles the price of transport plus admission to the attraction, such as Plopsaland, Sea Life, and the Sand Sculpture Festival. Available for purchase from 2 days in advance at Line shops in Ostend and other coastal municipalities.

Be sure to also check the seven-day pass or the ticket for your bicycle.

Your stop: Ostend North Avenue

Our holiday homes are easily accessible by public transport. Just like any place on the coast.

Whichever of the two holiday homes you stay in, it is best to take the coastal tram towards De Panne from Ostend station.

Get off at the Oostende Northlaan stop. The Apartment is located 400 meters from this stop. The Loft is located 500 meters from this stop.

A golden tip for those on holiday by the sea who love walking? Walk in the direction of the wind. Let yourself be carried along, enjoy the sun, the beach, the sea, and each other. With the wind at your back.

Next, drink a nice Trappist beer or coffee, eat an ice cream or a waffle and... hop back on the coastal tram home. Pure enjoyment without battling the wind.

With a touch of melancholy, we left the coast behind us this afternoon. We are now back home after one of the best seaside holidays of our lives. And we’ve been around for quite a while now. This mini-loft, perfectly tailored for two people and equipped with every comfort, has a lot to do with that, besides the extraordinary weather in our case, of course. We had a wonderful time and left this extraordinary seaside spot in good order. But with the intention of returning. Finally, I would like to mention the warm welcome from the owners. They prepare you down to the last detail to ensure you enjoy your stay to the fullest, without being patronizing or intrusive.

We enjoy the sea, but also the proximity of Ostend and the activities surrounding the Ensor Year. We did everything by bike, which we could safely store in the bicycle cellar. In the evenings, we enjoyed watching TV on a large screen, just to underline yet another of the many advantages of the loft.
