When we cycle on the seafront in Ostend, we feel even more at home. With the wind at our backs or finding pleasure in battling the power of the wind. Both are wonderful.
The center of Ostend is just an 8-minute bike ride from the Apartment and the Loft.
Do we want to cycle on to Wenduine and De Haan? Then we take the free ferry in the port of Ostend. It runs very regularly. Our bikes are also transported across for free.
Shall we cycle southwest, to Middelkerke? Then we can do so entirely on the seafront promenade. With a view of the sea and safely away from the street. Wonderful!
Secure and covered bicycle shed
We offer our guests a good and safe place to park their bicycles. This way, they are protected against bicycle thieves.
In the apartment, you can store your bicycles in your own covered garage. There is still room for your two-wheelers behind or in front of your car. You drive into the garage at street level. You do not need to take an elevator. Lock the garage, and they are safe.
In the Loft, you have space in one of the bicycle storage units in the basement. Only bicycles belonging to apartment owners and tenants are stored here. Ride in from the back and go directly to the correct level. Be sure to lock your bikes, as other owners or tenants also access this space.
Bicycle rides by the sea
You can find bike rides by the sea just as easily as you find walks.
The Green Ribbon is definitely worth a visit. This green belt connects the green areas around Ostend.
Ostend has mapped out a 35-kilometer bike tour through the most beautiful green areas surrounding the seaside city. The poems by Peter Verhelst are a nice touch along the way. The information boards along the route are helpful.

Rent a bicycle or go-kart
You don't need to bring your own bikes to the seaside. There are a few bike rental companies near the Apartment and the Loft. Indeed, the well-known go-kart rental companies for children also rent out (electric) bikes.
You will find two landlords in the immediate vicinity of the Apartment and the Loft. You can also go there to have your own bicycle repaired. Or why not, just ask them to pump up your tires.
Kriscross at the Koninginnegalerij (Zeedijk 92)
This landlord offers you nice and well-maintained carts and bicycles. Cheap, according to the many reviews. But we also read that the kindness is sometimes lacking.
Maya rental on the square in Mariakerke (Zeedijk 153)
This very friendly landlord helps you quickly and easily with a bicycle. Do you have problems with your own bike? Then he will repair your bike quickly and cheaply.
