Landlord Anke: ""One day I will wake up with a view of the sea," I predicted.
As a child, I didn't particularly like that sand between my toes. But when I walked on the beach in Ostend at age 22, I knew for sure: someday I wouldn't just walk on the beach, but also look at it from my lazy armchair and keep looking. I can still hear myself saying: “Later, when I wake up here on the weekend with a view of the sea, then…”, not the slightest hesitation, not even a “maybe”.
In hindsight, quite a bold statement for a student whose house-garden-children-tree life had yet to begin.
“One day dreams will come true, as long as you just believe in them,” I sang along to Kinderen voor Kinderen over and over again as a child. Perhaps I owe it to the fact that I believed in it so strongly, because in 2012 I became the owner of the Apartment. Since then, I do indeed regularly wake up on weekends with a view of the sea.

Landlord Hans: : "Fantastic to dive into the waves every day
"Do you love the sea or the mountains the most?" I never really knew what to answer when asked that question. As a child, I went hiking in the mountains with my parents, holiday after holiday. Even afterwards, I continually sought out the vastness of the mountains. I loved the mountain peaks. Their beauty and power. But the sea also attracted me. I enjoyed days in and around the water.
When I met Anke in Ostend, I fell in love immediately. With Anke and with the sea. The sea: its vastness, its beauty, its power. Just like the mountains, but close by. Besides our passion for each other, Anke and I have shared a passion for the sea ever since.
As the cherry (or is it passion fruit?) on the cake, I became the owner of the Loft in 2018, overlooking the most delightful swimming pool in the world. Anyone walking by regularly sees me diving into the waves. Fantastic, isn't it!

We love to share our little sea
As a blended family, we often spend time with our 5 children in Anke's Apartment. When it is just the two of us, we usually wake up in Hans's Loft. Wherever we stay and wake up, it is pure bliss every single time. We love sharing this unique pleasure with you as a tenant.
